The IEC and San Diego Gas & Electric Announce the Grid ComForum West 2012 in San Diego, California

October 02, 2011

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will present the Grid ComForum West, a three-day conference addressing the deployment and management of smart grid technology, at The Westin San Diego March 7-9, 2012.

CHICAGO - October 2, 2011 - The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) announces GCF West, its third program in the Grid ComForum series of events taking place March 7-9, 2012. San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will serve as host utility sponsor.

GCF West will be chaired by Michael R. Niggli, President and COO, SDG&E, and will begin with a private programming day for SDG&E and its key stakeholders on March 7, 2012. The programming on March 8-9, 2012 will be open to the entire industry, bringing together all of the major electric power utilities, vendors, and suppliers involved in the region's Smart Grid technology deployment.

University of California San Diego, University of San Diego, and San Diego State university will participate as university partners, creating a bridge to the university community driving the research and workforce development that is vital to the advancement of the Smart Grid.

"We are pleased to partner with SDG&E and to bring GCF East to San Diego. The progress SDG&E has made in its Smart Grid deployment efforts provides the industry with an opportunity to learn from the most advanced utility in this area. The support of the city of San Diego and its 'Smart City' collaboration makes it an ideal host city for GCF East," commented John Janowiak, President of the International Engineering Consortium.
