Duke Energy and Progress Energy, Host Utilities of Grid ComForum (GCF) East 2012, in concert with the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), regretfully announce the postponement of the event.
The parties believe that it is important that the proposed merger of Duke Energy and Progress Energy be completed so that the value received from GCF East is maximized for all constituencies supporting the event.
Duke Energy and Progress Energy, along with IEC, remain committed to providing industry executives and professionals with an opportunity to come together for a program on Smart Grid deployment and will share details with industry once they become available.

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC), Duke Energy, and
Progress Energy are pleased to present GCF East 2012.
Addressing the deployment of smart grid technology, GCF East will bring together the Southeastern Smart Grid community including all of the major electric power utilites, vendors, and suppliers involved in the region's Smart Grid technology deployment.
Its partnership with North Carolina State University will also bring together tier one research universities, an important resource in driving the future of Smart Grid.
May 22, 2012, consists of a private programming day for Duke Energy, Progress Energy, their key stakeholders, and major event sponsors.
May 23-24, 2012, will be open to the industry as a whole and will deal with the critical business issues of deployment and management of Smart Grid technology.

GCF East Planning Meeting Success
Wednesday, November 2, 2011, nearly 80 representatives from Duke Energy, Progress Energy, their stakeholders, and leaders from the Southeastern Smart Grid Community gathered to plan the educational content for GCF East 2012.
This full-day meeting brought out some of the most pressing topics facing the industry as well as dedicated content geared specifically to the region.
The outcome of this meeting will be used to assemble the GCF East Call for Session Proposals that will be distributed to the industry in the upcoming weeks as well as posted on this site.
